Transitioning Patriots of Brevard

Who we are

We are Transitioning Patriots of Brevard, a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide medical, educational, social, and vocational assistance to members of the U.S. Armed Forces who have suffered injuries in the line of duty on or after September 11, 2001. The program helps them adjust to civilian life and prosper in their community, Florida’s Space Coast. In a sentence, our mission is to take in a severely injured service member and help their family transition back into civilian life.

Who is a Transitioning Patriot

Our organization will screen for candidates who sustained injuries in the line of duty resulting in one or a combination of these conditions: amputation, blindness, deafness, paraplegia, and severe burns. A qualified candidate is one that has the desire to restart employment in a civilian career and the aptitude to pursue it. In addition, the candidate must successfully complete an interview process.

The Support we Provide

The main mechanism by which we will assist our Patriot is with the Transitioning Patriot scholarship. This scholarship is a four year mentoring program that provides the resources to support the Patriot adjust to civilian life and prosper. Based on the needs of the veteran, the scholarship with provide:

  • Four years of rent free housing
  • A vehicle adapted for the Veteran’s disability
  • Educational opportunities
  • Career placement
  • Financial and personal mentorship
  • Social integration into the community

Please understand that we are not giving our Patriot a house and car. We are providing them a place to live, rent free. We are providing transportation. We are talking to local employers for willingness to train and employ our Patriot. We are taking care of most of their expenses during the four year life of the scholarship while our Patriot acclimates to civilian life, deals with medical issues, and trains for a new career. This support system is designed to help our Patriot get a clean start for life after service in the US Armed Forces.
